Holy Trinity Catholic School is proud to provide the following special trips and programs to our students:

Annual 7th Grade Trip: Austin, TX

The history curriculum for our seventh grade students is Texas History and as they complete the year the finale is a trip to our state capital, Austin, TX.  This trip offers them a chance to tour select venues in the state capital that they have learned about through the year.

Annual 8th Grade Trip: Dallas, TX

Our eighth grade students take a day trip to Dallas at the end of the year and visit select venues that enrich and reinforce what they have learned during the year in their American History and science curriculums.

Cotillion

Cotillion is an activity offered to all 6th and 7th grade HTCS students.  In the program, students will learn what is expected of them in a variety of social situations and secure a basic education in social etiquette and social dancing which will contribute to success throughout their lives.

The key to Cotillion is learning social confidence in a structured and positive environment with friends while having FUN!  Unlike school dances, Cotillion evenings (four in April and May) are structured learning sessions.  Instructors will randomly pair students with others for dancing and social situation ‘role playing’.  Each evening, pairings will ‘rotate’ to enable all students to have several designated dance partners.

Etiquette

Our 8th grade students receive instruction in etiquette from Deborah King of Final Touch Finishing School.  The classes teach students rules of etiquette and offer a fresh approach to contemporary social skills. Some of the leadership skills addressed are: civility, etiquette, communication Skills, posture & presence, dining etiquette, and health & self-esteem.  The goal is to teach girls and boys, how to move from informal to formal situations with ease. It is about evaluating the situation they are faced with and knowing what is appropriate for their dress and behavior.

Deborah King, AICI CIP, is President of Final Touch Finishing School, Inc., which she founded in Seattle, Washington in 1989. Deborah has over 30 years of experience in the etiquette and image industry. She is one of only 115 Certified Image Professionals worldwide. Her training includes the Emily Post Institute, the Protocol School of Washington, Conselle Institute of Image Management, and IAPC Executive Etiquette Education. She is a published author and serves as a frequent and reliable resource to the media. Deborah travels extensively both domestically and internationally, teaching her principles of etiquette and poise to individuals aged five to seventy-five.

Parish Preschool Visits

Holy Trinities 5th and 6th graders visit our parish preschools twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring.  This program allows our students to mentor younger students and participate in a leadership role within the classroom.  Our students look forward to visiting St. Francis of Assisi Preschool, St. Michael Academy and Little Lambs Preschool every year.

Reading Buddies

This mentoring program is designed to promote the love of reading and allow our students to learn and teach together.  Buddies will meet once a month throughout the school year.  Most of the time they will be reading together but this program also includes writing and other classroom activities.

Reading Buddy Groups:  PK and 3rd, Kinder and 4th, 1st and 5th, 2nd and 6th, 3rd and 7th and 4th and 8th.  During a students 3rd and 4th grade years they are blessed twice because they are both a younger buddy and an older buddy.
